Art Restoration
In addition to creating original paintings, I also restore selected artworks.
Restoring damaged or timeworn pieces is a way for me to honor the history and heart behind each work. I take great care to preserve the integrity of the original while breathing new life into it. It’s a rewarding process that combines skill, patience, and a deep respect for the stories each piece carries.
A Painting Touched by Time: The Story Behind the Restoration
1950s Oil Painting on Silk in Disrepair
This painting had been stored rolled up in a tube for more than 50 years. It held deep sentimental value for the client, as it depicted her as a baby alongside her mother and father. The piece was originally painted in South Korea during the Korean War. Although the artwork was mostly intact, certain areas required restoration, including parts of the serviceman's hat, the mother's dress, and the baby's dress, which needed partial or complete repairs. Also, the entire painting had to be flattened, the curves being a result of being in a tube in an attic for over 50 years.

1950s Oil Painting on Silk Restored to its Original Beauty!
After its completed restoration, the painting radiated with a renewed sense of life and beauty, as if it had been transported back in time. The vibrant colors of the mother’s dress and the delicate details of the baby’s outfit were brought back to their original splendor, while the serviceman’s hat regained its sharp, proud lines. The expressions on their faces, filled with love and hope, seemed to leap from the canvas with a clarity that had been hidden for decades. It was no longer just a painting—it was a precious family memory, fully alive again, telling its story with grace and dignity. Seeing it restored to its former glory reminded me how art, like love, can endure through time and hardship.
